About your CPA Program

Once you’ve enrolled in the CPA Program, it’s important to know exactly how it operates. Set yourself up for success by gaining a clear understanding of the requirements of the program, plus the amount of time you’ll have to complete it and advance to become a CPA.

What are my requirements?

The CPA Program integrates both education and practical experience to help establish your reputation as a confident and well-rounded accounting professional. This approach allows you to fully develop the technical skills and global knowledge you need to stand out as a business leader. The CPA Program has three requirements: 1.Your degree 2.Your Experiences 3.Your CPA Program subjects 4.Fee structure

1.Your degree

  1. Bachelor of Accounting Degree Graduates of an accredited Bachelor of Accounting degree and possess Accounting Professional Certificate automatically exempted from the examination. Candidates only requires to attend the class and fulfil the minimum hours requirement to become CPA.
  2. Evaluation of the exemption will be made upon application.

  2. Eligibility of Accounting degree will be made upon application
  1. Non-accounting graduates but graduates in Management / Finance / Economic/ Marketing and Business can be consider directly to pursue the CPA Program. Eligibility will be contingent upon the subjects undertaken during one’s degree.
  2. Non-accounting graduates in other field will be required to fulfil the 36 months working experience.
  3. Evaluation will be made upon application.

Your working experience before applying counts towards your eligibility to join CPA program.

How to meet your experiences requirement?

Gain experience

You need to gain 36 months of full time, or the equivalent for part-time work, of relevant experience in Accounting/ Management / Finance / Economic/ Marketing and Business.

To calculate the hours for part-time work, use this formula: (your weekly part-time hours /35 hours) x months worked = full time equivalent in months.

Experience can be gained before your study. This is important to give you overview on real corporate activities. CPA program is professional certification that needs you to analyze, criticize, scrutinize and give recommendation.

While accumulating your experience, you must demonstrate a minimum of 10 skills across four categories. This must include at least:

four technical skills
two personal effectiveness skills
two business skills
two leadership skills.

Get your experience signed off

You’ll need to demonstrate the experience and skills you’ve gained by getting your experienced signed off digitally by your superior at work. Preferably, the superior is a member of any Accounting Professional Bodies or an equivalent full member of an International Federation of Accountants (IFAC) member body to maintain the professional judgement. They will review your experience and sign off on the time you’re claiming and the skills you acquired.

The signing off process of your experience claim can be completed as part of your experience claim application. Remember, each of your roles must include at least one technical skill.
