Archbishop Alter High School has been providing an exemplary, comprehensive Catholic education to Dayton-area students for more than 60 years. We pride ourselves in preparing students for an ever-changing world through a broad selection of challenging academics, Christ-centered retreats, athletic opportunities, and a wide range of arts and extracurricular activities. We believe that this comprehensive approach allows students to grow intellectually, spiritually, creatively, and socially during their high school years. Above all, Alter students are part of a unique community, one in which they are known and loved, and are supported by teachers, staff, and peers as they work to reach their fullest potential.
During the fall admissions season, we invite you to participate in our shadow days, where you will join one of our current students on campus to attend classes and experience a “day in the life” of an Alter Knight. We also invite you to one (or all!) of our admissions events- these evenings highlight the faith, pride, and spirit that make Alter so incredibly special.
Thank you for taking the time to consider Alter High School. We look forward to meeting you and helping you explore all the opportunities Alter has to offer!
Jessica Pettit,
Director of Admissions
Archbishop Alter High School is committed to providing opportunity and ensuring student success. To that end, we welcome applications from students wishing to transfer from another high school program. Prospective transfer students are invited and encouraged to tour the building and/or shadow a current student as part of their discernment process. To arrange either, please contact Jessica Pettit, Director of Admissions, at jessica.pettit@alterhs.org or (937) 428-5394.
To apply, please click on “ONLINE APPLICATION”. This will lead you to our online application. A completed application (including the $100 application fee) and records from the previous or current school attended are required to make an admissions decision. An interview with the student and family may be requested.
Any 8th-grade student who would like to experience a day at Alter can schedule a shadow day and be hosted by a current Alter student. Our student guests will tour, attend class, and enjoy a complimentary lunch in our cafeteria- all with their designated student host. Shadow days are scheduled from 8:30 am-1:30 pm. We encourage parents to attend the first hour of the day, which includes a tour of our campus once students are taken to class.
