Annual evaluation of doctoral students

The Annual Student Evaluation and Mentoring Plan is required of all PhD, EdD and DBA students on an annual basis until they successfully complete their program.

The online 2023-24 Annual Student Evaluation and Mentoring Plan is now available on your my.fiu.edu, under your Student environment, in the Tasks tile. If you have not done so already, please make sure to hold your annual meeting with your committee and/or Graduate Program Director accordingly.

Please note that students who have completed 18 graduate credits or more by the end of the spring term are required to complete the form. Fall registration will be blocked/dropped for those students who do not submit their completed annual student evaluations at UGS by the deadline.

To ensure a timely progress of your submission, do make sure to monitor the status of your Annual Student Evaluation and Mentoring Plan at https://my.fiu.edu/. It is essential to communicate with your academic advisors (i.e., major professor, entire committee, graduate program director), so you can keep track of their approvals as well as any comments or observation they note on your Annual Student Evaluation and Mentoring Plan.

Be advised that whereas your Annual evaluation and Mentoring Plan is at UGS (Pending UGS) by the due date, you will not incur a Fall registration hold. After submission to UGS, please allow time for review and approval.

For Deans/Graduate Program Directors/Major Professors/Dissertation Committee Members

Please note that if your student submitted an annual evaluation and this annual evaluation is ready for your review, you can access them by following these easy steps:

Step 2 – Click on your Worklist tile. Once there, on the top left side, please click on the blue link titled Detail View, and it will then change to a Summary and will show a list of your annual evaluation links for review. Decision-making (approval or return of annual evaluations) can only be done via this link.

All FIU systems require Two-Factor authentication. If you need to update your telephone number, contact the university’s Information Technology division at 305-348-2284 or via chat at https://fiu.service-now.com/sp?id=get_help_portal.

For Doctoral Students

To initiate your annual evaluation:

Step 1 – Log into your my.fiu.edu at https://my.fiu.edu/ and select your Student environment

Step 2 – Annual Evaluation link is found in your Tasks tile

Step 3 – To initiate it, click on tab label Add a New Value

To check on the status of your annual evaluation:

Once logged into your Annual Evaluation, click on the Find an Existing Value, and select the current year. At the bottom of the page, you will find the workflow and see who is pending sign-off, so you can follow up accordingly.
